WHO
WE ARE

We are a group of people who are passionate about preserving the reptiles and amphibians of Africa.

Founding Members

In 2024, fourteen herpetologists came together to provide species photos for the

Field Guide to the Snakes of Eswatini, which was the first dedicated and comprehensive book written on the 64 species found in this small southern African country.

These herpetologists established the foundation of this group, which has since grown to include thirty-one members.

One of the great herpetologists of his generation.

“It is also important to encourage young herpetologists, be they professional or

amateur. I have never been empirical about my work; there is no point of gaining

experience if you do not pass it on to the herpetologists of tomorrow.”

Don Broadley is still regarded as the “Godfather” of modern herpetology.
